Get the title? It's a joke, a play on GW's famous, "is our children learning?" But what he probably doesn't know and you, intelligent reader, do, is that "are our media biased?" is grammatically correct.
(Cleis is so impressed with her own cleverness.)
Anyway. This is a fantastic, frightening, convincing post by Toast at Shakespeare's Sister, arguing that the U.S. media are demonstrably and objectively biased toward the GOP.
Later, Shakes herself links to this video of an interview of Howard Dean by Katie Couric. Good god, I'm glad I don't watch tv. I'd have a coronary. So-called unbiased journalists using Republican party talking points, presenting them as objective fact! "Democrats took money from Jack Abramoff, too." Katie Couric is a shill. Disgusting.
I'm feeling so very cynical about the power of the truth these days.
Update: Crooks and Liars, who hosts the video, link to this tidbit at Think Progress:
Couric makes how many millions of dollars per year? Yet she couldn't be bothered to do this little search herself and get her facts straight? Shit, that Botox goes straight to the brain, doesn't it?
Posted by Cleis at January 26, 2006 09:16 PMBut Couric gets paid those millions to say what her GOP owners tell her to say, not the truth. That clip was absolutely disgusting--someone with a stronger stomach than I have who can watch it a few times should count how many times she smears the Democrats in that 2 minute interview. "Democrats don't believe in anything and need a spinal transplant"? WTF? Can you imagine anyone in the media saying anything even close to that about a Republican? Even a Republican who's admitted to, say, taking $2.5 million in bribe money won't get slammed like that.
