Octavia Butler died yesterday after a fall at her home. She was 58.
Butler was a brilliant writer of science fiction, one of the few African-American women in the field, and the first writer of genre fiction to win a MacArthur "Genius" Award. She is well known for her books Lilith's Brood, Parable of the Sower, and Kindred, among others.
I'll link to remembrances as they come in.
